Playstation driver texture mapping
RPGer 8 years ago 1. I have a PS2 Slimline version. Also, is there a site out there that tells you what games take use of these options? The manual for the console even says this. They can break some games which is why they reset at every boot , but any PS1 game can use them. That setting just allows the games to load the faster drive speed, which breaks games that were programmed to depend on a set disc speed say for streaming music. Texture smoothing does some extra graphics processing, which can break certain types of textures.

Well, I know a way to get the games looking the way they do in the mags. When you first switch the PS2 on, open the disc tray, this will bring up the menu screen.

Welcome to the EliteFitness. Fast disc speed makes them load faster, but can affect compatibility for some titles. Texture smoothing does exactly that, although personally i prefer the original look of PS1 games. If your TV is a Widescreen then set it to Most games ignore the system setting and allow you to change ratio via their options menu but a handful look to the system setting as to what ratio they display at.
I can't remember, i think this might be to do with DVD remote functionality. Depends on the game being played. If the game has a Widescreen mode then set your TV to the same. Most are though, so the correct setting for this will be found in your TV's instruction manual.
You can use the Zoom option to make a game look Widescreen without distorting the image but you will lose the top and bottom of the picture in the process although some TV's remove the top or bottom as opposed to a bit of both.
