The West Philadelphia Alliance for Children or WePAC's mission is to promote childhood literacy and stimulate an interest in reading by engaging volunteers in Philadelphia public elementary schools to re-open and staff libraries. Established in in response to the shuttering of school libraries amidst a devastating and ongoing school funding crisis in Philadelphia, WePAC served approximately 4, children primarily in grades K-4 between the ages of 5 and 10 in 18 public schools during the school year prior to Philadelphia public schools being closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Coretta Scott King Book Awards encourage the artistic expression of the African American experience through literature and the graphic arts. Since , the Coretta Scott King Book Awards annually recognize outstanding African American authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values.

She has always had a keen sense of history and she believed and frequently quoted. Coretta Scott King entered the world stage in as wife of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Prepared by her family, education, and personal commitment for a life dedicated to social justice and peace, she played an important leadership role in the American Civil Rights Movement.
