Enable media player sharing
Now make sure that network discovery is turned on along with file sharing. Also, this is where you set access rights to different devices. After that step if you want to store the media in a special location. After all is done, you can now access any of those media files you put into the location. Now find the folder to share files from and right click it and click on advanced sharing.
Remember when changing these options you need administrative permissions. I right clicked on the E drive. Next please name the share and leave the number of simultaneous alone. This gives everyone access to the files but, they can only read them. An example would be if you have another computer in the house you want to use to add and delete files in that folder, you would want to give them full control. After going through all these steps you should have successfully shared a folder on your network and setup media streaming.

Following above only removed the laptop from the list of "Media Devices" when I select the "Network" entry in File Explorer on the workstation. I could see them from said devices, but if I try to play an audio track for example, the player reports "You do not have permissions But now, after running above steps the media players can't even see the laptop - it is no longer appearing on the network as a "Media Device" so I am now one step worse off than before.
The only difference in the "Music" folder that is shared from the workstation and is accessible by external media devices is that in the files Properties-Sharing tab, "Share" button "Network Access" panel lists a user, "ASP. Security tab for both are identical except on the workstation "ASP. So something in the list of steps about has now disabled the laptop from being found on the network as a "Media Device".

I cannot create an "ASP. Net Machine Account" user or security principal on the laptop, and I have no idea what or when it was created on the laptop. It is as if the OS on the laptop completely ignores these settings. I am convinced that is where the problem lays that allows one machine's media to be shared and makes another's unshareable despite identical settings in Settings, Control Panel and folder Properties Security and Sharing tabs. Run the DISM and sfc checks on the laptop.
